2016 - 2017

Introduction from the Chair of Governors

My name is Stephanie Hall and I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Chair of Governors at Seghill First School.  I have been a governor since May 2016 and took over as Chair in January.  I have a 38 year background in education. Having worked as both a teacher and a Head Teacher, I have a lot of experience and knowledge about how good schools work, what Ofsted look for, what children need to progress and, very importantly, what parents should expect.

It is our job, as governors, to ensure that the school is well-run. It is a relationship which works when all stakeholders, teachers, parents, children and governors, work together.  We all want what is best for our children.

As Governors, we meet regularly and always with a focus of school improvement. We are also in school from time- to- time catching up, or working alongside Miss Chappell.  In this way, we get the information we need to do our job properly and we can support the school.

As Chair, I hope to be at occasional events and hopefully to take an assembly now and then.  Please do say hello if you see me.  And, very importantly, if you need to speak to either myself or any other governor, please contact us through the school office.
